About: Real Change is an award-winning weekly newspaper that provides immediate employment opportunities to homeless and low-income people. If you're interested in working directly with Real Change newspaper vendors, we would love to have you volunteer at our Sales Desk!
Position Description: This position will play an essential role within the Development and Communications Department by ensuring that weekly, important tasks are completed including: handwritten thank you notes to supporters and donors, bulk mailing, calls to Real Change supporters reminding them of fundraisers and events, measuring and formatting photos and stories for Real Change social media accounts (no special skill sets needed, everything for this is totally teachable), and more! This is an exciting opportunity to get involved with social media marketing, fundraising, and more.
Skills and Requirements:
- 18 years of age, or older
- Familiarity working with computers and social media
- Vaccinated against COVID-19 and willing to wear a mask while volunteering
- Comfortable with your penmanship and handwriting thank you notes and acknowledgments
- Comfortable calling Real Change supporters to remind them of ongoing fundraisers, thanking them for their donation, and/or inviting them to upcoming events
Time Commitment: Every Friday for 2-3 hours. Between the hours of 9am-3pm, you'll select the 2-3 hour timeframe that fits with your schedule best, and commit to a weekly schedule.
Skills Required:
- Passion for racial, economic, and social justice
- Ability to work independently and without significant supervision
- Familiarity with computers and social media
- Vaccinated against COVID-19 and willing to wear a mask while volunteering
- Comfortable with your penmanship and handwriting thank you notes and acknowledgments
- Comfortable calling Real Change supporters to remind them of ongoing fundraisers, thanking them for their donation, and/or inviting them to upcoming events
