Mercer Island Thrift Shop (MITS) is seeking volunteers to become a regular part of our cashier team with a commitment of one shift per week. MITS is a nonprofit business that values a culture of community involvement, volunteer skills development, and reducing our community footprint on the planet through resale; the best form of recycling. As a bustling group of 100 volunteers, management team and work study students, we are proud that we provide the major source of funding for the City of Mercer Island’s department of Youth & Family Services (MIYFS).
Shifts are as follows Sunday through Thursday, can be flexible:
- 9:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Our Apparel Stocking Team is vital to 60-70% of MITS sales. We are looking for those driven by fashion and creativity in a fast-paced environment with many tasks to be completed daily.
Responsibilities:
- Exhibit friendly customer interactions
- Stay up to date on store promotions and current in-store product
- Assist customers in finding the right outfit
- Replenish sales floor accurately and efficiently
- Adapt to new promotions and floor resets
- Attach price tags to merchandise
- Work as a team to meet store goals
