Water1st was started in 2005. Our focus to the global water issue was simple: build an organization from the ground up with the ability to consistently implement high-quality water and sanitation projects that provide permanent solutions for the world’s poorest communities… Addressing the water and sanitation needs of the world’s poorest is the one activity that, when done properly, generates benefits that can lift a community out of extreme poverty. There is no exaggeration in the statement: supporting and implementing water and sanitation projects properly is the best investment and best hope for the world’s poorest…

We are committed to true equity in water access. With each project, water is piped to every home, school, clinic, and gathering place in the community. This comprehensive approach ensures our project participants have 24/7 access to safe water, a toilet, and a shower, preventing disease transmission and unlocking their potential. As of July 2023 we’ve completed 4,617 projects, and not one has failed.
