Who We Are
Imagine Housing develops affordable housing, builds welcoming communities and fosters vibrant futures. Our vision is an Eastside with interconnected and welcoming communities where all people can live, learn, work and play. Imagine Housing was established in 1987 by members of both St. Andrew's Lutheran Church and local community members in response to a need for quality, permanent rental housing on the Eastside. It was run entirely by volunteers until it hired the first Executive Director in 1993. Imagine Housing currently employs 20 full-time staff members. Our volunteer base includes more than 250 people who donate approximately 4,000 hours per year.
What We Do
Imagine Housing is the primary developer of permanent affordable rental housing in East King County, Washington. We also are a leader in designing and providing person-centered, strengths-based supportive services at our properties. Our organization is sensitive to the needs of diverse communities and is committed to cross-cultural competence. Imagine Housing empowers individuals and families, supports diversity and strengthens communities. We make it possible for veterans, seniors, survivors of domestic violence, young adults aging out of foster care, and low-income working families to live in and thrive on the Eastside. Imagine Housing has an excellent reputation on the Eastside and in the Puget Sound region for our commitment to increasing the availability of affordable housing. Over more than 30 years in the community, we have built or acquired 15 properties in six Eastside cities, serving over 1,400 low-income individuals in 639 affordable apartments.
