Who We Are

Driven by a belief that all youth should have every opportunity to succeed, Friends of Youth partners with youth and families to provide the relationships, resources, and skills they need to attain personal growth and success. Founded in 1951 to provide quality foster homes for at-risk adolescent boys, Friends of Youth has since expanded our services to provide safe places and support for marginalized young people facing difficult circumstances, including homelessness, foster care, and behavioral health challenges. We serve youth at 24 program sites with services in 18 cities, providing the tools necessary for disenfranchised young people to move from crisis and instability to safety, stability, and success. With 70 years’ experience and national accreditation, we annually serve over 2,000 youth and families ages 0-25 in the Puget Sound Region, focusing in North and East King County.

What We Do

Our services are designed to support youth through:

  • Homeless Youth Services: We offer a continuum of critical services including drop-in services, case management, emergency and enhanced shelter, transitional housing, and employment support.
  • Immigrant and Refugee Services: We offer residential accommodations for refugee and immigrant youth and provide independent living skill development, education and job-seeking support, and coordination of medical and legal services.
  • Youth and Family Services: We provide outpatient mental health and substance use disorder counseling, prevention services, school-integrated counseling and home visiting parenting programs for youth and families.
  • Residential Treatment Services: We offer foster care, extended foster care, and residential treatment services.
