Mercer Island Thrift Shop (MITS) is seeking volunteers to become a regular part of our cashier team with a commitment of one shift per week. MITS is a nonprofit business that values a culture of community involvement, volunteer skills development, and reducing our community footprint on the planet through resale; the best form of recycling. As a bustling group of 100 volunteers, management team and work study students, we are proud that we provide the major source of funding for the City of Mercer Island’s department of Youth & Family Services (MIYFS).
Shift is as follows Sunday through Thursday:

7:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Our area is designed to serve one donor at a time. Donation material handlers provide direction and assistance to donors with loading their donations into carts to keep the line running smoothly. They also move carts of product to the processing department when full.
Responsibilities:

Exhibit friendly customer interactions

Stay up to date on accepted items list

Practice safe lifting procedures when handling donated items

Handle customer complaints

Work as a team to ensure donation drop-offs runs smoothly
