As a dinner host, you'll help provide a meaningful evening of connection, encouragement, and care — ultimately creating lasting life change through community.

Celebration Dinner – 2nd Wednesday of the Month: Celebrate monthly birthdays and recovery anniversaries with us! Volunteers provide a special meal and cake, and help make the evening feel memorable for those being honored.

Community Dinner – 4th Wednesday of the Month: Foster connection through food in a relaxed, family-friendly setting. Volunteers prepare and serve dinner while engaging with residents in a casual, relational way. Your presence helps our families feel seen, supported, and valued.

Time Commitment: This opportunity is available on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month from 5:30–7:15PM (dinner served at 6:00PM). You’re welcome to sign up for a single evening or volunteer regularly — whatever works best for you!

Major Responsibilities: Promote a welcoming and celebratory atmosphere for our residents. Provide and serve dinner for up to 30–35 moms and kids. Dinner should be ready by 6:00PM. Help with set-up: wipe down counters, set out dishes, and set up the beverage station. Enjoy dinner and engage meaningfully with the families. Package and store leftovers (in refrigerator or freezer). Assist with clean-up after the event. Share feedback with staff after the dinner.

Desired Qualifications: Passionate about creating a positive and welcoming space. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to plan, prepare, or coordinate a meal for 30-35 moms and kids. Openness to learning about our mission. Respectful and sensitive to different cultures, languages, and life experiences.

Additional Details: Maximum of 5 volunteers per dinner night. Children ages 12+ are welcome — please have them sign up individually. Headcount and allergy information will be provided to leads closer to the event.

Once you’ve completed the application and Meet & Greet, you do not need to repeat them for future dinners. Questions? Email us at volunteer@acresofdiamonds.org. We’re excited to have you join our community!

Volunteer: Grocery Program Volunteer - Lifelong Health for All

Our Mission

We remove barriers to health with relentless compassion so that no one faces illness and injustice alone.

Our History

We have always fought for those living with HIV and we always will.

In the 1980s, elected officials and other local and national leaders displayed cruelty and bigotry when they refused to support the services and research needed to combat the early surge of the HIV epidemic. A handful of volunteers witnessed their friends, partners, and neighbors neglected and left to die.

They were compelled to fight back and mobilized the community to unite against injustice. They made a lifesaving difference in the lives of thousands through an assembly of chore wheels, hospital visitation calendars, and the establishment of new non-profit organizations. They helped create us, Northwest AIDS Foundation, Chicken Soup Brigade, and Evergreen Wellness Advocates, which became Lifelong.

The need is greater now than ever!

Where you come in

Lifelong's Chicken Soup Brigade (CSB) needs volunteers to lift and stack boxes, unload trucks, repackage, bag, prepare, and pack grocery bags in our warehouse. The warehouse is the foundation of our work in getting food to clients who are living with serious illnesses. With nearly 1.5 million pounds of food coming through our door every year, we need all hands on deck to help process the donations.

Our volunteer sessions are fun, rewarding, and inclusive!

We would like to explore with you what might work best for your class. You might choose an opportunity that we already offer to other volunteers, or maybe we'll come up with something unique, based on your interest, our requirements, and all our capacity. But first, please reach out to us. Do the following: Determine whether you'd like to start the conversation, by: Visiting our profile on this platform. Visiting our website. Thinking about these sample volunteer opportunities with us: Contributing to social justice and/or identity-based programs; helping with marketing, social media, and/or website; assisting with event planning and implementation If, based on all this, you like the idea of collaborating with us, then great! Please then click the "Respond" button at the top or bottom right of this Opportunity. In the next screen, tell us more about yourself in the Notes section. Some things to possibly include are: Why you're interested in volunteering with us Your class, and how collaborating with us relates to it What else you hope to get out of your experience Any ideas you have for your service experience Availability and/or other language proficiencies Limitations, restrictions, or other things to consider After we chat, if things look like they'll work out, we'll then complete and submit the service-learning agreement, as given to you by the instructor. And then we'll be good to start! We're excited to hear from you, and hope that we're able to come up with a volunteer experience that will be meaningful to all of us. Keep in mind that not every opportunity will be perfect, and not every opportunity will be the most engaging all the time. But hopefully the experience will be beneficial for you and for our agency.

Volunteer: Jubilee REACH Thrift Store Volunteers

All profits from the Thrift Store come back to Jubilee REACH and right back into the community. In order to keep costs low at the store, we keep a minimal staff on board. This means that we need LOTS of helping hands. Every hour volunteered at the Thrift Store is giving funds back to the community.

Thrift Store Duties: Daily, our store receives a steady flow of donated items, and without help, these donations can add up quickly. Volunteers help us process these donations, prepare them to be priced, and put them out on the sales floor. Tasks typically involve hanging clothes, pairing up shoes, cutting price tags, re-arranging items on shelves, organizing books, and helping keep the sales floor "shoppable."

Volunteer: Volunteers for food rescue

We are in need of food rescue volunteers to pick up food from Bellevue/Redmond/Issaquah/Sammamish and take it to various shelters in Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Issaquah and Seattle.

Looking for a fun, flexible, local and rewarding way to volunteer?  Join the team at https://www.eathappynow.org/ whereby you can help rescue food that would otherwise wind up in landfill and, instead, deliver it to those in need.  It’s easy.  Download our EatHappyNow app and register as a volunteer.  Then, check the Available Jobs tab where the “orange dots” indicate days with open tasks.  Click on the task; if your schedule permits, tap Accept.  On the day of delivery, your job and specific details will be available to you.  In this way, you (and your parent if you are not able to drive) can act as “Food Rescue Drivers,” earn volunteer hours, and have the added benefit of connecting with your community.  Questions?  Contact volunteers@eathappynow.org

Many of our jobs are within a few miles of your campus, making our collaboration a natural fit.

Thank You.

Volunteer: Contemporary Oral History Project: Participants Needed!

Hello Bellevue College!   Eastside Heritage Center has launched a contemporary oral history endeavor called "The Living History Project." Amazon sponsored the early building blocks of this, and we were able to purchase some equipment, etc.; Now we're looking ahead to conducting these oral histories ("interviews") with folks on the Eastside this year. I feel that you, your classmates, etc. all might fall under our widely-cast net. We're officially looking for folks of all ages, backgrounds, professions, etc. who have a direct connection to the Eastside. This could be someone whose family has lived here for generations, but also those who moved here in the last few decades, too. It's intended to capture a snapshot of the Eastside today.    The goal for the next few months is to conduct short ~15-minute audio interviews, and then compile these into a format that would allow for retention internally, but also smaller clips to be put out into the community (including the potential for our social media accounts.) The long-term goal would be to get these same folks back in to conduct a longer oral history, around an hour, to flesh out this project a bit more.    Do you want to participate? We'd love to talk with you. In terms of time commitment, we'd reserve an hour window to conduct the actual interview in Bellevue at our administrative headquarters. There would be a release document to fill out, and we'd also ask for several photos (depending on the conversation had.) Afterwards we would edit the file to make it more clear and concise, and transcribe the content. You'd review and we'd communicate a bit regarding that. All in, likely   Please email me if this sounds like something you would like to be a part of! And of course if you have any questions. Volunteer: Neighborhood Outreach Support

Did you know that over 70% of the available planting space in Bellevue is located on privately-owned suburban property? If we're serious about increasing Bellevue's urban tree canopy (UTC), then we need to be serious about neighborhood-level outreach and tree-planting efforts.

We are looking for volunteers interested in helping to spread the word about 300 Trees in their area or a neighborhood we've identified as supportive of our tree-planting efforts.

Activities would include social media posts/outreach this winter, as well as door-to-door canvassing (leaving flyers on people's doorsteps) in the spring and summer. Initial volunteers may also be asked to help us identify and contact neighborhood leaders who can give us a more solid connection to other residents.

Volunteer: YWCA Childcare Help Needed

The YWCA has multiple sites, multiple child care positions, and multiple dates/times available.

Most of our childcare positions are to help our program support groups, when parents come together to either attend a class, or a support group. The parents are usually in one room, and the kids are with a staff member having a program themselves, and that's where you'd be. Supervising the kids, helping with projects, and making sure everyone stays safe while having fun!

If this is something you'd like to move forward on, we will start by having you do an online profile, get some references and paperwork. Then one more meeting with who would be your direct supervisor who’ll do a small orientation to learn some of the challenges working with homeless or domestic violence populations.

Once the staff signs off on your interview, we do a background check, and when that clears, you're ready to go!

We are really looking for long term committed volunteers, and would love to get your started on the process, so please let me know if you'd like to move forward and when you might be available for an interview.

Thank you so much for your interest.
